Description
Our magnificent Kangals are ideal farm protectors: they look like lions and are very protective towards their human family and their livestock, but are gentle with other animals and children.
Walking with our Kangals really is like having lions walking next to us, and we feel safe because our dogs are totally dedicated to protecting us and our milk goats. And any small children visiting us. Our puppies are born with this very strong instinct to protect. It’s in their genes because Kangals have done this job for centuries. Our puppies at 10 weeks old behave like their parents with our milk goats: checking on ones laying down to see if they are ill and staying with the herd to look after them. (We have a lovely video of this.)
They are very calm and placid dogs, unlike border collies and other ‘high energy’ working dogs, but can move with surprising speed if the need arises.
The difference between Kangals and Anatolian Shepherds.
The Kangal is a specific (ancient) Turkish breed, whereas the Anatolian Shepherd is a cross-breed between the Kangal and other breeds.
